Il Palagio — The Favorite Retreat of the World-Famous Singer
Sting owns numerous homes across the globe, from Italy to the United States. However, the crown jewel of his collection is Il Palagio, a 16th-century villa where the singer enjoys spending time with his wife, actress Trudie Styler. Located in the Chianti region, just 45 minutes from Florence, the estate features six cottages available for rent, allowing visitors to experience the villa’s charm and even sample Sting’s own homemade wines from the estate's cellars.
Sting purchased Il Palagio in 1999 from Duke Simone Vincenzo Velluti di San Clemente, along with several nearby plots of land. Here, the British music legend fully embraces the delights of rural living. In addition to expansive vineyards and olive groves, the estate includes Sting's private wine cellars, an olive oil press, and a beekeeping operation. Visitors can even purchase three varieties of wine from the estate's vineyards and five types of honey via the villa's official website.
The musician undertook a major renovation of the main building and all other structures on the property, even installing a three-meter-tall Buddha statue in the chapel. As a devoted yoga practitioner for over 20 years, Sting has designated a special space on the estate for yoga and meditation.
Guests renting the villa can enjoy access to the swimming pool, garden sun loungers, a giant chessboard on the terrace, and the wine cellar. The latter is spacious enough to host a banquet table and wine tastings of the owner’s vintages. Additionally, the villa’s sprawling 900-acre grounds feature a lake, a cypress grove, and a summer kitchen, offering plenty of opportunities for relaxation and exploration.
