KITCHEN WITHOUT UPPER CABINETS: ALL THE PROS & CONS

Despite the fact that hanging kitchen drawers are convenient, modern trends in interior design dictate their rejection. How convenient and practical it is - we will understand below.

ADVANTAGES OF AVOIDING WALL CABINETS

Kitchens without hanging cabinets look unusual, but thanks to such a solution, you can visually increase the space, as well as give it lightness. In addition, there are often situations when the internal volume of the attached modules is not 100% used. It is not very convenient to place various objects at a height, which, on the contrary, I wanted to have at hand.

Among the advantages of abandoning the upper modules in the kitchen set, the following can be highlighted:

• Cost savings — the smaller the number of cabinet furniture elements in the set you choose, the cheaper its final cost

• Visual effect - a kitchen without massive modules visually becomes taller and wider

• A large amount of light - the working area finds better natural lighting due to the absence of obstruction by upper cabinets

• Ease of maintenance - even if you have a powerful hood, the upper row of modules is still prone to contamination

• Strive for minimalism - there are fewer hard-to-reach places in your kitchen.

DISADVANTAGES OF REFUSING UPPER CABINETS IN THE KITCHEN

But a kitchen without upper cabinets still has its drawbacks. For example, opting for open shelving will cause dust to collect. Of course, tidying up will be easier as a result than in the case of closed cabinets, but it will have to be done much more often. You will have to maintain order more carefully and more often due to the lack of blind facades.

Another disadvantage is the lack of useful storage space. If you are the owner of a small kitchen and you do not have additional space to place kitchen utensils, then such a refusal can cause unpleasant consequences. That's why it's important to carefully analyze all kitchen utensils, appliances and accessories to understand exactly how much useful storage space you need.

HOW TO USE WALL SPACE

A kitchen without upper cabinets in the style of minimalism does not need additions in the form of wall decor. But if, in your opinion, bare walls are too boring, then you can decorate the useful space:

• A bright backsplash that will attract attention

• A large clock or panel

• With pictures or posters (it all depends on the chosen style of room decoration)

• Chalkboard, on which you can place recipes, motivational notes.
